Established in 1903, Boley is one of the nation's most prominent historically All-Black towns. Founded on land allotted to Abigail Barnett, a Creek Freedwoman, it became a beacon of Black entrepreneurship and self-governance in the early 20th century.
Boley hosts the nation's oldest African American community-based rodeo every Memorial Weekend. This annual event celebrates the town's rich cultural heritage and draws visitors from around the world.
The Boley Historic District, designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1975, features 14 buildings dating from 1903 to 1921. Visitors can explore these sites through guided tours offered by Boley Tours, gaining insights into the town's significant role in American history.
